Introduction to the Horton modern dance technique. Emphasizes a whole body, anatomical approach to dance that includes flexibility, strength, & coordination. Classes are structured with instruction on body & spatial awareness for unrestricted, dramatic freedom of expression. Continuation of the study of the Horton modern dance technique. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations.
Contemporary offers a diversified movement vocabulary, teaching the students a broader range of movement shapes, dynamics, and levels. Advanced students expand combination possibilities, focus on dynamics and levels, increase strength and stamina, and explore various modes of expression. A certified Pilates instructor and licensed athletic trainer will help you bring your dancing to the next level! Students will learn about injury prevention and the latest methods in dance medicine to enhance health, well-being, training and performance.Beginning Modern
