This March Ekklesia School of Ballet will present our annual Student Choreography Project!  We feel it is so important for our students to have a chance to develop their voice (so to speak) by creating their own dance work.

We are excited to extend this opportunity to ESB students in Ballet 1 through ballet 10! This is an opportunity for students in Ballet 1 and up to showcase their very own choreography and use all that they are learning for their personal expression.  We also use this event as a fundraiser for the school scholarship fund through a silent auction.

All participants in the SCP are encouraged to bring in an item (or items) for the silent auction. Some silent auction item ideas include dance supplies (warm-ups, leotards, hair things, dance posters/magazines/books/etc), artisanal food baskets, family game night baskets, pet care baskets, children’s toys and crafts, date night baskets, vouchers for bed and breakfasts, hotels, or spas, car care baskets, sports baskets, chocolate and coffee baskets, garden baskets, etc. Please encourage local businesses to donate their products and services for this event.

Please fill in this form for your silent auction items. The deadline for all auction items is Saturday, March 9th.

Dancers who are not performing in the SCP are highly encouraged to come see the show and support your peers. You are also encouraged to bring in an item for the silent auction. All of the proceeds from this event will go directly to the school scholarship fund to help ESB in our mission to make dance accessible to the community.

The Student Choreography Project will be held Sunday, March 17th at 3:00 at ESB studios.  Tickets will be $12.

Choreographers, Please Sign Up With This Online Form. The deadline to register is Saturday, February 24th.

Solos: 1 minute max

Duets and group pieces: 2 minutes max

Requirements for Ballet 3 and up:

Solos: 2 minutes max

Song Choice: In order for the students to develop thematic elements to choreographed work which are not lyric driven the song choice should not contain lyrics.  If a student really wants to use a song with words we ask that you also use a song without lyrics as part of the work and edit the music to fit the required length of time.

Choreographers will need to audition their dances with Miss Elisa. Email admin@ekklesiaballet.org to schedule a time.

There is a $30.00 entry fee per dancer. Dancers may use studio space upon request. Email admin@ekklesiaballet.org to schedule studio use.
